Take these steps when a student's account shows up as an "External" account even though they were signed in properly.
Note: When a student's account shows up as an "External" account this causes the student to not be able and use extra features of the Teams app/web application.
Steps:
- Ask the student to open the Teams desktop client.

- If they cannot, then have them use the Teams web client.

- Create a personal chat with the student.
- Go to the New Message square.

- Type their name next to "To:"

- "Type a message" and send.
- Send an invitation to the student over Teams in the created private chat using the + and “Schedule meeting”.

- Ask if the student has a new profile sign in that is related to an "External" or "Vol State" account.
- If there is a second profile that is marked as "External", then remove that profile.
- The issue should now be resolved.
