Dropbox Assignments: Adding to and Viewing in Content

Add an Assignment to the Content Area

The Add Existing button is used to add eLearn activities, like Dropbox assignments, to the students' learning path in the Content area. It is easier to create the activity first and then add it into your learning path.

  1. Within the module that you want to add an already created assignment, click the "Add Existing" button.Add Existing selected in Content of New Content Experience
  2. Select "Dropbox Assignment"
  3. Select the specific assignment you want to add to this module.

Once an assignment has been added to Content, you can access the assignment, view students' completion status, and ensure grades have been published to the gradebook from the content area.

The Dropbox assignments icon () within the Table of Contents indicates where your assignments are located within a module.

  • Within Content, you can access a Dropbox assignment by clicking on the name of the assignment from the Table of Contents.
  • The Edit Activity button allows you to edit the assignment.
  • Under Activity Content, you will see the Instructions for the assignment you've posted for students.
  • Evaluation Criteria states how many points the assignment is worth and includes a link to any rubrics associated with the assignment.
  • Information listed under Submission Details includes the required submission type, files allowed per submission, allowed file formats, and number of submissions permitted.
  • The Completion Summary section allows you to see a list of all of the students in your course and their completion status.
    • The completion status will either be Submitted or left blank if they haven't submitted an assignment.
    • The number of submissions a student has made for this assignment will show up under their name.
    • You can grade students' assignments from within Content by using the Go to Evaluation hyperlink listed in the Completion Summary area or click Evaluate All to grade all assignments.
    • The word Published will be listed in the Evaluation column once you have finished grading the assignment. Whereas, if Published is not listed, this indicates the grade has not been published to the gradebook and is pending your evaluation.
    • An orange dot next to the time of the student's submission indicates you have not opened the submitted file. No orange dot indicates you have reviewed the file.
    • In the Completion Summary area, you can hover over the profile picture of your students to gain quick access to a link you can use to email them. This feature could be helpful if a student scores poorly on an assignment.

When a student is waiting on you to grade their Dropbox assignment, they can see that their assignment is pending evaluation within the Content tab of eLearn. Students will have a Status Card stating if they have Submitted or Not Submitted the assignment.

Once you have graded a student's assignment, they will see their Overall Grade on the Status Card within Content and also under Grades in eLearn.

Students can also view your feedback pertaining to the assignment from within Content.
