Job Description

Vol State IT provides technical assistance on campus and multiple teams within Vol State IT hire student employees. Our IT work study employees provide technical assistance to students, faculty, and staff in a number of areas including:

  • Account/Login Issues
  • Event Management
  • Classroom AV Issues
  • E-mail
  • Network Connectivity
  • Printing
  • Windows and Mac

Essential Responsibilities

  • Assist students, faculty and staff (via phone and in person) with a variety of technical issues
  • Assist with the installation of software and hardware
  • Assist with AV issues in smart classrooms
  • Assist with staging & working campus events (i.e. Campus Graduation, Fall Fiesta, Harvest Moon Soirée, etc.)
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, login and network issues
  • Open tickets using TeamDynamix (ticketing application)
  • Follow up with, resolve, reassign and close tickets as needed
  • Perform other office related tasks as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in classes at Vol State
  • Must be eligible for FWS (federal work-study program) through Office of Financial Aid
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting and research skills
  • Experience with Vol State's online services and systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Past work experience in a high-traffic customer service setting
  • Functional knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems
  • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Functional knowledge of iOS and Android devices
  • Functional knowledge of presentation hardware, projectors, laptops and other display and audio devices

Hours and Compensation

Vol State IT work study student employees are expected to work a minimum of 8 hours per week; the maximum number of hours a student can work per week is 10.
