Grades: Recommended Settings

In eLearn go to: Evaluation > Grades > Settings (blue cog icon, right upper side)

Personal Display Settings

These settings only impact your view of the course grade book. The personal settings below are suggested, adjust to match your preferences.

  • Check Points grade or Weighted grade, depending on which type you use.
  • Check the Grade scheme symbol.
  • Check the Grade scheme color.
  • Check the Repeat calculated final grade at the start of the userlist.
  • Set your preferred Default Grades Area. Most faculty choose “Enter Grades.”
 

Student Display Settings

These setting impact what a student will see on their Grades page. To preview the impact of changes to these settings, in the enter grades area, click on the drop-down arrow next to a student’s name and select “Preview.”

  • Check Points grade or Weighted grade, depending on which type you use.
  • Be sure to check Grade Scheme symbol (this will be important for final grade reporting).
  • Check Display how final grade was calculated to users.
 

Calculation Options

 

These setting impact what a student will see on their Grades page. To view the impact of changes to these settings, in the enter grades area, click on the drop-down arrow next to a student’s name and select “Preview.”

  • Check Points grade or Weighted grade, depending on which type you use. Formula may be used, but it is recommended rarely.
  • If you are given an option between calculated and adjusted final grade, select release the Calculated Final Grade.
  • Check Automatically release final grade.
  • Select Drop ungraded items.
  • Check Automatically apply a grade of Zero (0) to missing submissions…
  • Check Automatically keep final grade updated.
