Get Your Hardware, Software and Internet Connection Prepared

• Review important Technical Requirements & Skills for accessing your courses in eLearn
• Additional Items to have for Virtual and Zoom classes:
  • Headset with a microphone or speakers and a stand alone microphone (If you will be connecting while you are in a room with background noise, like a computer lab or busy home setting, a headset is necessary)
  • Webcam — your device (regardless if they are desktops, laptops, tablets, or a combination thereof) is recommended to have at least a dual-core processor or better and four (4) gigabytes (GB) of RAM to run your webcam (and Zoom) well. For webcams, we recommend USB models with at least 720p resolution
• Submit a student technology checkout request if needed (for items such as jet packs, laptops, or webcams)
• Make sure you have reliable internet connectivity
• Install software on your device:
  •  Microsoft Office 365
  • Anti-virus software. Free options: Windows Security / Avast for MacOS
  •  Zoom (Go to the Vol State Zoom Portal and click on Login to Create/Edit Account to get started)

Get Your Files and Technology Resources Organized

• Check your Vol State email using Office 365
•  Access OneDrive from a web browser.
• Go to the "IT Ticket System" homepage for 24/7 assistance or contact the Vol State IT Help Desk at (615) 230-3302 during office hours.
• You can book a virtual eLearn Support appointment on the eLearn Support calendar or contact eLearn support at (615) 230-3665.
• Search our extensive Vol State IT Knowledge Base for researching answers to your technical problems.
