How to Update Your Password on Your Devices Following a Password Change

Campus Computers

After changing your password, you will need to log out of your computer(s), and sign back in using your updated password.

Personal Devices

If you use Microsoft Office 365 on your personal device(s), update the password by using these steps:

  • Windows
  1. Click on the Start button.
  2. Click on the gear icon.
  3. Select Accounts.
  4. Click on Access Work or School.
  5. Click Disconnect.
  6. Click Connect, and log in using your updated credentials.
  • Mac
  1. Open any Microsoft Office app (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc)
  2. Click on your name.
  3. Select Sign Out.
  4. Quit any open Microsoft Office apps.

Wi-Fi

If you use the Vol State Wi-Fi, you will need to manually update your password.

  • iOS Devices
  1. Forget the VSCC network.
  2. Connect to it using your new password.
  • Android Devices
  1. Forget the VSCC network.
  2. Connect to the VSCC network using this configuration:
  • EAP method: PEAP
  • Phase 2 authentication: MCHAPv2
  • CA certificate: Don't Validate
  • Domain: volstate.edu
  • Identity: Vol State Username
  • Anonymous identity: leave blank
  • PasswordVol State Password​​​​​​

E-mail

If you're using the Outlook app on your work computer, then logging out and signing back into your computer should work. However, if your e-mail is also set up on your personal computer(s), or mobile device(s) you will need to do the following:

  • Windows 10 Mail App
  1. Open your E-mail.
  2. On the lower-left corner of your screen, click on the gear icon.
  3. Click on Manage accounts.
  4. Select your Vol State e-mail.
  5. Click on Delete account from this device.
  6. Re add your Vol State e-mail account.
  • MacOS Mail App
  1. Open Mail.
  2. At the top of the screen, Click on Mail, and then select Preferences...
  3. Tap Accounts.
  4. Select your Vol State e-mail.
  5. Click on Server Settings.
  6. Update the password both the Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server.
  • Outlook App 
  1. Open the Outlook app.
  2. On the top left of your screen, click on your profile picture; if you do not have one, it will instead show the Office 365 logo.
  3. On the bottom-left of your screen, click on the gear icon.
  4. Tap on your Vol State e-mail address.
  5. Scroll down, and tap the delete account box.
  6. Add your Vol State e-mail again.
  • iOS Mail App
  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Passwords and Accounts.
  3. Click on your Vol State e-mail account.
  4. Click on Account.
  5. Select Password
  6. Update your password.
  • Android Mail App
Note: These steps are based on Android version 9. 
  1. Go to Settings.
  2.  Tap Account and backup.
  3. Tap Accounts.
  4. Select your Vol State e-mail account.
  5. Tap Remove account.
  6. Re add your e-mail account.
