Quiz: Create a Quiz

Create a Quiz

  1. On the navbar, click Evaluation and select Quizzes.
  2. On the Manage Quizzes page, click New Quiz.
  3. From the New Quiz page, enter a Quiz Title for the quiz.
  4. If you do not wish to link your quiz to a grade item in the grade book, select Not in Grade Book. If you do wish to link the quiz to the grade book, select Edit or Link to Existing or select Add to Grade Book.
  5. Enter the Due Date, if applicable, and a Description for your quiz.
  6. In the Quiz Questions area, click Add Existing or Create New to add quiz content.
  7. Do any of the following:
    • To add questions from the Question Library, another collection, or a text file, click Add Existing. Select an option from each of the drop-down lists and specify the resulting settings, based on your chosen options. Click Save. Note: If you import questions from Question Library, your quiz will contain a copy of the questions, not the original questions.
    • To create a new question, from the Create New button, select New Question from the drop-down list and choose the type of question you want to add. Enter the question details and click Save.
  8. Repeat the previous steps until you have added all your quiz questions.
  9. Under Availability Dates & Conditions, select a Start Date and End Date for your quiz. Click the Add availability dates to Calendar checkbox to add your quiz dates to your eLearn calendar. You can also use this section to add Release Conditions, Manage Special Access, set a Password, control users' IP Restrictions, and lock each attempt to a single login session.
  10. In the Timing & Display section of the quiz editor mode, do any of the following:
    • Set a time limit.
    • Specify the number of Questions per page.
    • Select the Shuffle order of questions at the quiz level check box. To discourage cheating in quizzes, you can shuffle the order of all questions in quizzes or specific groups of questions (sections) in quizzes. For example, you could shuffle questions 1-10 in a quiz, or shuffle questions 3-10 (grouping those questions into a section) and retain the order of questions 1-2 at the start of the quiz. When a quiz contains shuffled questions, each student receives a quiz with a unique question order.
Note: Shuffling the order of questions at the quiz level also shuffles the order of all sections in the quiz.
  11. In the Display area, do any of the following:
    • Select the Allow hints check box.
    • Select the Hide question annotation tools check box.
    • Select the Hide questions point values.
    • Select the Disable instant messages and alerts check box.
These "disable" options can help deter cheating by preventing students from interacting with other students or outside web sources on their computer.
  12. For the Attempts & Completion section, click Manage Attempts to set how many times students can take your quiz. You can add your quiz to a category, if desired. Enter an email address if you want to be notified when students complete your quiz.
  13. Under Evaluation & Feedback, you can set publication options for your quiz, such as auto-publish quiz results and display a grade and specific questions when learners submit their quiz.
  14. Click Save and Close.
