Export Final Grades from eLearn to Banner

You can use the SIS export button in eLearn to push your final grades to Banner. Final grades may be exported to Banner multiple times, as long as the submission is done during the final grade submission window set by the Registrar. Final grade submissions are typically opened during finals week. The submission due date is published on the Vol State Academic Calendar.

  1. Check your grades in the eLearn grade book to ensure they look accurate. Double check that all blank/empty grade items have been given a zero. Please see the Recommended Grade Settings article for additional guidance.
  2. Review the Final Calculated Grade column. The grade submit tool does not translate numerical values to letter grades. If your Final Calculated Grade column has numbers (percentages or point values) it will need to be switched to letter grades as Banner only accepts letter grades.
    • Click on the dropdown arrow next to Final Calculated Grade
    • Select Edit
    • In the Grade Scheme dropdown, select the letter-based scheme you want to use. For example, 90-80-70-60 Standard Letter. If none of the available schemes work, you can create your own grade scheme and select it.
    • Save and Close
  3. In the Enter Grades area, click the Export to SIS button.
  4. A new page will open.  It will list your students and their Current Final Grade (this needs to be in letter form, see step 2 above).
  5. Select the students you want to submit grades for or click the top box by username to select all.
    • Use the "Override Grade" column to give a grade other than the calculated by the grade book, this includes using an I to assign a grade of Incomplete.
    • If assigning an Incomplete, ignore the "Default Incomplete Grade" and the "Incomplete Extension Expiry Date" fields. These are assigned automatically by the Records Office. Just add an I to the "Override Grade" column and complete an Incomplete Grade Form.
    • VERY IMPORTANT:
      When posting a grade of “F”, you are required to post the “LAST DATE OF ATTENDANCE” in the appropriate column. If a date already exists in the date column that is not the correct Last Date Of Attendance, delete it and post the correct date. 
      • If the student actually earned a grade of “F”:  Use the last scheduled date of class, excluding finals week.
      • If the student stopped attending class: Use the last day the student attended class or completed online work.
      • If the student never attended class: Use the day before the semester started:
        • Fall 2024 - 08/25/2024
        • Spring 2025 - 12/19/2024 (the day before wintermester)
        • Summer 2025 - 05/11/2025 (the day before maymester)
  6. Click the blue "Export" button at the bottom of the screen to submit the grades to Banner.
