How to access my Vol State Email (Office 365) through a web browser?

You can access your college Office 365 account by using Outlook Web App (OWA), which is the web browser version of Microsoft Outlook. Microsoft provides OWA as part of Office 365 suite to allow users to connect to their email accounts via a web browser, without requiring the installation of Microsoft Outlook.

  1. Open the URL: https://www.outlook.com and click Sign in in the upper-right corner of the page.
  2. When asked to authenticate, please use your college e-mail address as your login name and press Next .                                                                                          Office 365 Email Address As Username
  3. If you are on a campus computer on the Vol State network and are signed into the computer with your personal Vol State login, then you should automatically get signed into the Outlook Web App.
  4. If you are on an off-campus computer, you may be asked to authenticate in a sts.volstate.edu window similar to the box below.Office 365 STS Authentication Window
  5. When asked to authenticate in a sts.volstate.edu window, please use your college e-mail address as your User Name and also enter the same Password that you use to login to the Vol State network with.

Also, when you launch Outlook Web App for the first time, you may be asked to specify language and time zone. The correct time zone is "(UTC-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada)". Once you pick this value from the drop-down list, click on the Save link to proceed.
