How to Fix the Not Connected Error

"Not Conneced - your account is not connected with any ClassLink account" Error Message

Why does the Not Connected Error Happen?

You may be prompted with the "Not Connected" error message when ClassLink is trying to pull a Personal, Work, or otherwise Non-Vol State Related email address to automatically sign you in. This is because ClassLink cannot find an account associated with it. If you have a personal Outlook account, or otherwise, your browser can cache that email address. This is done for convenience, as the average end user will use a single email account for a variety of services. However, it can be an issue in this specific instance because it is preventing you from being able to log in.

Below are some steps you can take to prevent or resolve the Not Connected error.

Use an Incognito/Private Browsing Session

This is the simplest and fastest way to work around the Not Connected error. An Incognito/Private Session doesn't save or import the browsing data on your device. You can press a keyboard combination to easily enter Incognito/Private Browsing.

On Chrome and Edge, press Ctrl + Shift + N.

On Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + P.

Once in Incognito/Private Browsing, you can go to the Portal and sign in using your Vol State Email.

Clear Your Browser's Cookies and Cache

Clearing your cache and then restarting your browser will prevent ClassLink from trying to automatically sign in using an invalid email.

We already have another Knowledge Base Article on how to do this, but on most browsers today you can simply press a combination of keys as a shortcut to do this.

On Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge, you can press Ctrl + Shift + Delete on your keyboard. Make sure all of the boxes are checked and select "All time" under the "Time range" drop-down tab. Then, close your browser completely and reopen it. Finally, you can go to the Portal and sign in using your Vol State Email.

Use a Different Browser

For some, using a completely different browser to access the Portal and complete their coursework may be the best option. It is recommended that you stick to using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
