How to log into My Vol State student portal

Follow the steps below for your first log in, or jump to the typical log in steps.

First Time Log In Steps:

The first time you log in you will need your V# and your Vol State email address. These are both listed in your Vol State acceptance letter. If you can't find your V# and/or email address please contact the Vol State Records office at 615- 230-3466.

Navigate to the portal log in page

  1. Start on the Vol State homepage, www.volstate.edu. 

  2. Click on the My Vol State link.

    • on a computer it will be in the top blue bar.

    • on phone you will click on the red hamburger (three lines in top right) menu to see the top bar options.

  3. Once the My Vol State Portal log in page opens, read and then close the Login Issues notification.

Set your password

  1. Click on the green "Set/Reset Password" button.

  2. Follow the Password Reset Instruction Prompts. You will need your V#, found in your acceptance letter, to setup your password.

Log in to the portal

  1. Once you've set your password, go back to the My Vol State Portal login page and click the "Sign in with Microsoft" button.

  2. Enter your Vol State email address and click "Next." You will need your Vol State email address, found in your acceptance letter, to log in.

  3. Enter your newly created password and click "Sign In."

Set up multi-factor authentication

  1. The first time you log in you will be prompted to set up multi-factor authentication (MFA). Follow the steps in this article to set up MFA - How do I set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)?
  2. Once you finish the MFA set up, you should be taken to the portal.

  1. Start on the Vol State homepage, www.volstate.edu. 

  2. Click on the My Vol State link

  3. Once the My Vol State Portal log in page opens, read and then close the Login Issues notification.

  4. Click on "Sign in with Microsoft".

  5. Enter your Vol State email address and click Next.

  6. Enter your password and click Sign In.

  7. Follow the multi-factor authentication steps.
