What is Zoom?
Do you have the need for high-quality video conferencing and screen sharing for a meeting or an online class? Do you need to conduct a meeting with call-in participants and sharing of documents or presentations? Do you need to meet with students that may not be on campus? Have you used applications like Webex, Skype, or Adobe Connect before? If any of these sound familiar, you may be interested in using Zoom.
Zoom is available to use for students, faculty, and staff at Volunteer State Community College.
Zoom is a cloud-based conferencing technology that allows for high quality, easy interaction with participants from computers or mobile devices. Zoom works on laptops, desktops, and can be used from Android and iOS smartphones and tablets. All students can use a Zoom basic account which allows for interaction from computers and mobile devices. A Zoom basic account allows users to host unlimited meetings of 40 minutes in duration with up to 25 participants.
Faculty and Staff at Vol State can use a Zoom Pro account which allows for audio teleconferencing, recording of the meetings, and many more features.

Zoom can also be used in conjunction with eLearn for both students and faculty. For more information on how to use Zoom within eLearn, refer to the Setting up Zoom Meetings Within eLearn article.
